Boot Spy: NIKE Super Fly II at 2010 MLS CUP

A behind the scenes look/picture before the 2010 MLS CUP in Toronto. My good buddy Ross Schunk, who is a part of the Colorado Rapids who won the Cup, sent me this picture of the boots he wore for the final. His boot of choice is the new Nike pink/red Super Fly II pictured above...

Interview about 2010 MLS Cup and what he looks for in a soccer boot will take place later this month.

Nike CTR 360 Maestri II

Nike are set to release the CTR 360 Maestri II. According to the Footy Gods and footyboots.com the first CTR was voted boot of the year for 2010. However, I think that the adidas adiZERO F50 should of been the boot chosen for boot of the year due to the popular demand of professional footballers all over the world using them. In the end, here is a sneak peak of the Nike CTR 360 Maestri II.

Umbro GT Pro

Introducing Umbro's first speed boot; the super-lighweight GTPro, the lightest boots they've ever made weighing just 236 grams.

The Umbro GT Pro, which I believe is one of the most under rated speed boots on the market was just released in a new colorway; lime/black. I have been testing this boot for the past two months and love the style, weight, and comfort of the boot.
Check out the boots!

Nike Mercurial Vapor VI

  • Style:9.5

  • Performance: 9

  • Technology: 9

  • Comfort: 8.5

  • Responsiveness: 9

  • Durability: 8

  • Value: 8.5

  • Overall score:61.5/70

    • Nani sporting the Vapor VI in preseason of this year. However, he has recently switched to the adidas f50 adizero.

      Review:
This shoe has come a long way and so has the game of soccer since 1998. For example, just take a look at Christaino Ronaldo's game, which like the original R9 has put Nike Soccer and this shoe back on map. With its light Teijn microfiber upper the shoe conforms to your foot and is very light, which sets it apart from other shoes on the market.Unlike past vapors, the Vapor VI is lighter and thinner than the Mercurial V. In addition, the Vapor VI is equipped with a glass fiber outsole plate for greater speed and a decrease in weight, with the change of outsole the boot now only weighs 8 oz. All around, the combination of light Teijn microfiber upper along with the glass fiber outsole makes the Vapor VI the ideal lightweigt performance product built for speed.

      Changes in Performance/Profitability:

      • Caron fiber outole to decrease weight.
      • Adding either full-grain kangaroo leather or kanga-lite to the upper for a different feel/version of the shoe.
      • Removing the lace covering for better ball feel.
      • Would like to see a hybrid version of the orginal R9 vapor and the current model.

      Boot Spy: Torres switching/testing boots?

Torres has had a rough ride since the World Cup and a dip in form/injury has hurt his image along with Liverpool slow start to the season. Maybe he is thinking about switching boots? Shown below are pictures of him wearing the Nike Legend.

      Review of Legend:

"Re-engineered from the classic 1984 Tiempo, the Nike Tiempo Legend III has come a long way. This shoe which started out very bulky and boxy is fine tuned in this third version. With full-grain kangaroo leather, the boot offers comfort and extra ball feel. Marketed towards the all around elite player the Legend is classic and simple, which attracts the eyes of both old and young players who choose to let their play do the talking. In the end, if you are looking for a classic decent priced shoe that offers class, comfort and performance the Legend is the way to go".
